Curbside Cleanup and Haz Mat
Curbside Clean Up
Every year, the City of Windcrest sponsors a Curbside Clean Up in the Spring and Fall. During that week (dates will be determined and announced in the Windcrest Newsletter) curbside pickup of brush, tree trimmings, and large items will be provided to Windcrest residents. Brush and tree trimmings should be tied in bundles not to exceed 4 to 5 feet in length.
Allied Waste/BFI will be sending out a special truck for the collection of these items. To ensure that the items are picked up; please have all items along the curb by 7:00 a.m. on that Monday, which will be the first day of collection. The truck will go down each street only one time during the specified week. Do not put your items under low hanging branches. In doing so, the crane from the collection truck will not be able to pick up the items.
Examples of large items are:
| Hot water heaters
|| Lawn mowers
| Barbecue pits
Dumpsters will be provided for two days during this collection for the disposal of items which were not placed curbside. The dumpsters will be placed in the vacant lot just south of the RV storage facility on Jim Seal Drive.
The City of Windcrest and Allied Waste/BFI ask that the following items not be placed curbside, or disposed of in the dumpsters:
| Items containing lead acid
|| Oil/oil filters
*** No appliances containing chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) refrigerants can be disposed of unless the refrigerant and/or refrigerant housing has been removed by a licensed technician and verification or certification has been attached to the appliance.
During the Fall Curbside Clean Up, residential household hazardous waste disposal will be available to Windcrest residents.
